ProRail: VIRM tests
Susceptibility measurements
As a participant of the joint venture EM Power Systems, EMforce was involved in susceptibility measurements on VIRM-type double deck EMUs of Netherlands Railways. Both in the preparation and the execution of the tests and in the analysis of the results, EMforce has contributed its specific knowledge of the electrical equipment in this type of rolling stock. A proper understanding of the test results was possible only by using elementary physical and electrical principles. It is precisely EMforce’s strength to apply this understanding to practical situations.
The tests were part of a programme to establish the compatibility of the traction power supply system of the new High Speed Line with the existing railway system and have led to important new insights for the participating engineers from ProRail, NedTrain and Netherlands Railways.
